bēkn

For caregivers

You are not failing. You are carrying too much alone.

If you are caring for your husband or wife, or for an aging parent, you already know about the burnout, the isolation, and the hard choices nobody warned you about. Spouses are usually the first caregivers, and often the most alone. bēkn exists so your church can help carry some of that weight.

Where to start

Three things you can do this week.

1

Read the two-part guide

Kristina's “Caring for Older Adults… and for Their Caregivers” walks through the challenges families face and the practical steps that help.

2

Tell your pastor

Many caregivers never say out loud what they're carrying. Give your pastor this page and ask whether the church would talk with bēkn.

Plan ahead, before the crisis

Wishes for care, illness, and the end of life are far easier to talk about before they are urgent. Start with “Bury Me in White.”

You are not alone

Most care in America comes from people like you.

The typical caregiver is a working mother in her mid-forties, caring for a widowed mother while raising her own children. Burnout, isolation, health problems, and financial strain are common, not a sign that you are doing it wrong.

“Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.”
